Will Dorton - Pitching Coach

Coach Dorton began his coaching career in 2014 as the Pitching Coach for Camden American Legion Post 17. After one season he was promoted to Head Coach. In those 2 seasons Post 17 won 50 games and made their first appearance in the state tournament in program history, finishing in 3rd place. The pitching staff posted a 2.93 ERA in both seasons combined. Coach Dorton also spent 1 season as the pitching coach for Hanahan High School in Charleston and one season as the pitching coach at Blythewood High School in Columbia.

Coach Dorton was a 4 year letterman in both baseball and football at Lugoff-Elgin High School, winning a baseball state championship in 2010. In 2011, he was named All-State and selected to participate in the North-South Allstar game. Dorton was drafted in the 15th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. He instead went to College of Charleston to continue his career where he was named the Southern Conference top incoming freshman by Baseball America.

Coach Dorton graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. He currently teaches 7th grade social studies at Spaulding Middle School in Lamar, SC. This is his first season with the Stingers.
