FLORENCE, S.C. — Gabe Herold powered Florence-Darlington Technical College to a 12–6 win over Catawba Valley Community College in the Stingers' home opener, launching two home runs and driving in three runs.
FDTC's offense was strong throughout the lineup, totaling 11 hits and drawing seven walks. Jackson Cook led the way with two hits, including a home run, and finished with four RBIs. Pat Costin also homered, while Diego Garcia added two RBIs to round out the scoring.
On the mound, Cooper Coleman earned the win after tossing 3 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five. Dylan Shaffer closed the game with a three-inning save, retiring hitters without allowing a hit and striking out three.
After starter Gavin MacDonald surrendered four runs and issued four walks in the opening inning, the Stingers' bullpen settled the game and limited further damage. Despite committing one error, FDTC's offensive production and steady relief pitching secured the victory.
