Stingers' extend win streak to 10 with doubleheader sweep

FLORENCE, S.C. — Jake Zehner delivered a flawless performance at the plate to propel Florence-Darlington Technical College to an 8–4 victory over East Georgia State College in Game Two of Saturday's doubleheader at Carolina Bank Stadium.
Zehner set the tone offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 while scoring three runs, highlighted by a backside triple. Florence-Darlington capitalized on defensive miscues by East Georgia State, with Strickland and Garcia each driving in two runs to extend the lead in their monster six-run fifth inning. The Stingers once again showcased their aggressive approach on the basepaths with eight stolen bases, two by both BJ Balls and Tradd Burton.
On the mound, Jackson Mullen earned the victory with an impressive relief appearance, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out four. Starter Gavin MacDonald worked 3 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out five to keep FDTC within striking distance early. Cooper Coleman closed the door in the final frame, surrendering one run to secure the win. As a staff, the Stingers limited East Georgia State to five hits, combining timely pitching with disciplined offense to complete the doubleheader sweep.
With this win, the Stingers' win streak has reached double digits at 10. Looking foward to next week, they have two midweek games against Southeastern on Tuesday and Bruniswick on Wednesday before their first regional matchup when the Stingers tavel to play Gaston next weekend.
