FLORENCE, S.C. — Tristan Strickland recorded three hits to lead Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers baseball to a 6–2 victory over USC Salkehatchie at Dailey Field.
Strickland paced the Stingers offensively, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a double. Gabe Herold added two hits and two RBIs while also stealing two bases, helping Florence-Darlington apply pressure on the basepaths. Jackson Cook contributed two hits, an RBI, and a run scored while showcasing his speed with four stolen bases.
On the mound, Peyton Rogers earned the win for the Stingers, pitching four strong innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven to improve to 1–0 on the season. Gavin MacDonald followed with three innings of one-hit relief, striking out four without issuing a walk. As a staff, Florence-Darlington pitchers limited USC Salkehatchie to five hits and two unearned runs over nine innings to secure the win.
With the victory, the Stingers improve to 22–5 overall and 7–2 in regional play. Florence-Darlington will return to action Wednesday when they host Fayetteville Technical Community College Trojans baseball at 3 p.m. before traveling to face USC Sumter this weekend.
