SUMTER, S.C. — Tristian Strickland and Jake Little homer as Florence-Darlington Technical College defeated USC Sumter 9–3 on Saturday at Riley Park.
Florence-Darlington Tech totaled 12 hits in the contest. Jackson Cook led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, scoring two runs, driving in one, and stealing two bases. Oneill Feliz also made a major impact, recording two hits and a team-high three RBIs while adding a sacrifice hit. Tristan Strickland and Jake Little each hit a home run to help power the Patriots' lineup. Little also stole a base and scored twice, while Gabe Herold contributed with two stolen bases, two runs scored, and an RBI.
On the mound, Jackson Mullen delivered a strong start, pitching seven innings while allowing two earned runs on six hits and striking out six batters. Gavin MacDonald closed out the game with two innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and striking out two. Florence-Darlington Tech was also sharp defensively, committing no errors, while USC Sumter finished with two defensive miscues.
With this win, the Stingers move to 8-2 in regional play. The Stingers will return to Riley Park on Saturday for a doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. and the second game set for 3:30 p.m.
