FLORENCE, S.C. — Elijah Sanders pitched six scoreless innings before USC Sumter's late surge as Florence-Darlington Technical College fell 7–2 at Dailey Field on Saturday.
Florence-Darlington Technical College was unable to hold off a late rally, dropping a 7–2 decision to USC Sumter despite matching the Fire Ants with nine hits. Gabe Herold led the Stingers offensively, going 3-for-5 and providing consistent production at the plate.
Diego Garcia added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run to contribute to the offensive effort. However, Florence-Darlington's momentum was hindered by two defensive errors that led to additional scoring opportunities for USC Sumter.
On the mound, Elijah Sanders delivered a strong performance, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three batters. The Stingers' bullpen struggled to maintain the lead, as Jackson Burton allowed three runs in relief, followed by Gavin MacDonald, who surrendered two runs over two innings while recording two strikeouts.
Florence-Darlington will look to build on its early-game execution and improve late-game consistency in upcoming matchups.
