Strickland, Costin Homer as Stingers Fall to Gaston, Set Up Winner-Take-All Final

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Tristan Strickland and Pat Costin each hit solo home runs, but Florence-Darlington Technical College fell to Gaston College, 16–2, in the Region 10 Championship game on Monday.
Florence-Darlington Technical College was limited to five hits on the day, with Strickland and Costin accounting for the team's only runs. Strickland also drew a walk, reaching base twice and continuing to provide a steady presence in the lineup.
On the mound, Jackson Burton was charged with the loss after a difficult start. Tony Shannon provided a bright spot in relief, allowing just one run over 2 2/3 innings while striking out three. As a staff, the Stingers surrendered 16 runs on 14 hits, including seven home runs.
With the loss, Florence-Darlington takes its first defeat of the Region 10 Tournament, setting up a winner-take-all matchup with Gaston College. The winner will advance to the East District Championship.
