RALEIGH, N.C. — Florence-Darlington Technical College's offense erupted for 20 runs as the Lady Stingers completed a doubleheader sweep of Wake Technical Community College with a 20-7 victory at Buffaloe Road Park.
FDTC piled up 18 hits and drew 12 walks in a dominant offensive showing. Payton Melinauskas led the surge, going 5-for-5 with a home run, five RBIs, four runs scored, and two stolen bases. Keira Bell added a home run of her own, driving in four runs and scoring four times. Makayla Huggins went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
In the circle, Natalie Hunter earned her first win of the season, allowing four runs over 2 1/3 innings. Abby Quick provided steady relief, tossing 3 2/3 innings and surrendering just one earned run. Despite two defensive errors, the Lady Stingers' offensive firepower proved more than enough. The victory improved FDTC to 4-8 on the season. The Lady Stingers return home Saturday for a doubleheader against Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
