FLORENCE, S.C. — Three home runs for the Stingers as Florence-Darlington Technical College responded emphatically in Game 2 of its doubleheader, shutting out Georgia Military College 11–0.
The Lady Stingers' offense set the tone early, producing 12 hits in a balanced and aggressive performance at the plate. Payton Melinauskas led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 outing that included a home run and three RBIs. Hayleigh Atkinson also connected on a home run and drove in two runs, while Zoei Hunt delivered the biggest swing of the game with a home run that plated four. Florence-Darlington Tech applied additional pressure on the bases, swiping six stolen bases — two each from Keira Bell, Melinauskas, and Atkinson — to keep Georgia Military on its heels throughout the contest.
In the circle, Abby Quick was in complete control. She tossed a five-inning complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out one and issuing no walks. Quick faced only 18 batters in the run-rule victory. The Stingers were equally sharp defensively, playing error-free softball to secure the shutout and split the doubleheader.
