HUDSON, N.C. — Payton Melinauskas's two home runs secures Florence-Darlington Technical College a 7-5 victory over Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute.
The Lady Stingers delivered a balanced offensive effort throughout the contest. Makayla Huggins led the team at the plate with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, adding a double and an RBI. Rylee Port also contributed offensively with two RBIs and a stolen base.
In the circle, Keira Bell pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on ten hits while striking out eight. Bell effectively managed the Caldwell lineup and kept Florence-Darlington within striking distance throughout the game.
The contest was ultimately decided in the seventh inning when the Lady Stingers broke a tie with a decisive four-run surge to take control. Caldwell Tech attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the inning with two runs, but the rally fell short as Florence-Darlington held on to secure the win. Next, the Lady Slingers will travel to Georgia Military College for a double header on Sunday.
