FLORENCE, S.C. — Despite a dominant start in the circle from Keira Bell, Florence-Darlington Technical College fell 5–3 to East Georgia State College.
FDTC collected eight hits offensively, with Olivia Goforth leading the way by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Payton Melinauskas contributed an RBI double, helping Florence-Darlington build early momentum. However, the offense was unable to sustain production after the second inning, as East Georgia State used a late rally to secure the win.
Bell delivered an impressive complete-game effort, striking out 13 batters over seven innings. She allowed five runs, three earned, on eight hits while continuing to keep FDTC competitive throughout the contest. Additional contributions came from Skylar Dymond, Mandy Wells, and Melinauskas, who each recorded hits, with Wells also scoring a run.
Florence-Darlington will look to regroup as it prepares to open regional play on Saturday at USC Union.
