UNION, S.C. — Hayleigh Atkinson had a home run and drove in five runs to led Florence-Darlington Technical College to a hard-fought 9–8 victory over USC Union.
The Stingers set the tone early, plating six runs across the first two innings to build an initial advantage. USC Union responded with a strong push midway through the game, highlighted by a four-run fifth inning, but Florence-Darlington maintained composure down the stretch to secure the win. Atkinson led the offensive effort with three hits and five RBIs, including a key home run. Kiera Bell delivered an all-around performance, tallying two hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored while also adding a home run and a stolen base. Payton Melinauskas contributed two RBIs and a stolen base, and Olivia Goforth added two runs scored and a stolen base to support the attack.
In the circle, Abby Quick pitched five innings, working through a challenging offensive game from USC Union. Bell closed out the final two innings with a strong relief appearance, holding USC Union scoreless to preserve the narrow victory.
